On Jan. 9 , I discussed the importance of CIOs driving innovation by aligning technology to business goals. Avanade’s own CIO, Chris Miller, is a good example of what I mean.
As a business technology consultancy, Avanade‘s employees expect a lot from their technology – the software, hardware and services – to enable them to help our customers achieve tangible business results. That’s no easy task. But in his nearly two years at Avanade, Chris has demonstrated his business leadership supporting the rapid growth of our company with the right technology to truly drive innovation that helps us differentiate in the marketplace.
So it’s particularly exciting for me to see Chris recognized by the industry and in one of the leading IT journals, IDG’s Computerworld, as a Premier 100 IT Leader for 2012.
Chris has pushed the company’s technology boundaries to better support today’s business demands and leads some of our most innovative projects in areas like datacenter virtualization and enterprise collaboration. Taking one example, Chris led the virtualization of 90 percent of Avanade’s application services and reduced physical server inventory by 70 percent. As a result, Avanade now achieves greater performance and agility at a much lower cost. That sort of innovation transforms businesses.
